I was invited to create a piece of art for a group exhibition about the subject matter of "Heroes".

I invited exhibition visitors to write a personal hero statement on pieces of fabric I had prepared
with the help of textile printing, and to add them to a washing line of heroic acts.

Hero statements may still be added to the open ended collection by pressing the button below!

The following heroic statements have been received to date:

I am a hero: I gave my Mum permission to die - and meant it.

I am good at things, I am so good I have wings.

I am a hero because I can still see the magic and fun and absurdity in everyday life situations - and try and share it with people through my illustrations.

I am a hero because I can make fun of myself!

For allowing my hair to be grey.

I threw a stone in the Thames, I was on telly. I think I was famous.

I am a hero because I do not ask what are the ingredients in the food dishes put in front of me by gracious hostesses and hosts in far away places, I eat the artingredient-like substances and often wish there was a large canvas I could experiment on instead of trying it out in my stomach.

I am a hero because I will admit I am scared sometimes.

I am a hero because I help my son believe he is one.

I save bugs when my friends want to tread on them.

I am a hero.

i am a hero because... 'I like to spread bicycle love.'

My most heroic act was giving birth to my daughter through 55 hours of labour, and than being determined to be by her side as she was ill in the neo-natal unit.

I keep making plans for a better tomorrow.

Because I am the best and I shoot lazers out of my eyes.

I woke up before Mummy and Daddy, I got butt cream, I ate the butt cream, I shoved it into the radio... then I threw up the bum cream.

I am a heroine because I am me!

My son is a super hero because he was born four months early and not only survived - he is also the cheekiest lad I know!

I am a hero because I painted every day for 15 years with no feedback.

Daddy is a hero because he is funny and he is actually very clever (almost as clever as his teacher). And he is very good at swimming, he can actually go up and back in 15 seconds (or less), he can actually go up and back in 10 seconds.

I am a hero because I save people and animals.

I come from a beautiful place.

Mummy is a hero because she sold her art for £1000.

Everton are magic.

I am a hero because I don't care what you think about Bon Jovi.

I saved a pigeon.

I am a hero because I conscientiously do not leave work until I have done everything in my realm of Media Monitoring powers to get the job done.

For being Bampi (grandad).

I am a heroine because I dare to expose myself to the world through my art.

Yes I am a heroine because I was able to listen to my inner voice and act upon it.

I am a hero because I jumped on Mummy and Daddy.

I am a heroine because I follow my heart.

I saved bread for a duck.

I am a hero because I released Humphrey, Bogart, Truffles, Snoopy, the leopard and the old English sheep dog into the big wide world.

I am a hero because I have stopped criticizing my children for not being like me.

I'm a hero because after 2 years of working at a job with apalling work conditions I'm finally looking elsewhere... New Horizons here we come!

I try to save spiders, butterflies and ants from an early death.

I am a hero because I dare to express my love!

I am a hero for getting out of bed in the morning.

I dare to change.

My most heroic quality:
Give me all the ingredients in the world and I'm a lousy cook. But give me your left overs and I'll cook up a storm!

Love is...
